of Allegan, formerly of Lawton, passed away on Sunday December 27, 2009, at the Rose Arbor Hospice, after a courageous fight with cancer. Mr. Browne was born October 12, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the son of Royal and Pheobe (Richardson) Browne. Harry graduated from Lane Technical High School, North Park College and Western Michigan University. He was an industrial arts instructor at Gull Lake High School, Lawton High School, and Allegan Middle School. He was also a highly successful basketball, baseball and track coach. He enjoyed many outdoor sports and remained physically active into his 80's. Summers were spent on Grand Traverse Bay with his family enjoying water sports. He was an avid reader and remained knowledgeable on current topics to the end of his life. Surviving are his son, Neil and Sue Browne of Otsego, 3 grandchildren, Leslie Howard, Christine and Dan Burley and Steve and Missy Augustine, 7 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a special nephew, Bradford and Judy Browne. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Nichols) Browne, and his brother, Robert. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 5 - 7 pm at the Gorden Fueral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Mt. Home Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Memorials may be made to the Rose Arbor Hospice or the Christian Neighbors in Otsego.
