Gwendolyn Judy Thomas, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center. Gwendolyn Judy Thomas was born August 21, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of David Merlin Thomas Sr. and Eula Mae (Bocage) Thomas. "Judy", as the family liked to call her, started her education in Gretna, Louisiana at All Saints Catholic School. In 1948, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois, then to Grand Junction, Michigan in 1957, and finally to Allegan where Judy graduated from Allegan High School. Judy attended business school in Chicago and nursing school in Cutlerville, Michigan. She worked at various jobs, including working with youth at the Allegan County Juvenile home and as a nurse's aide. Judy loved to read, especially about natural remedies and nutrition. She would frequently suggest supplements to her family members for any kind of complaint they might have. She also loved to play cards and bingo with family. Judy truly loved being around her family. She experienced immense joy when the great nieces and nephews would come to visit her. Judy leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Eula Thomas; brothers: Jim Thomas, David (Holly) Thomas, and Elton Thomas; sister, Sherry (Tim) Thomas-Cloud; sister-in-law, Michelle Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is her father, David Merlin Thomas Sr.; sisters: Melva Thomas Roy, Betsy Thomas Payton; and brother, Terry Thomas. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Community Church (3370-113th Ave, Allegan, MI 49010) on Saturday, December 10th at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Rowe Cemetery, Cheshire Township.
