of Allegan, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011. Age 22 years. Greg was born October 28, 1988, the son of Joseph and Laurie (Thompson) Courtney. He graduated from Allegan High School, where he was a member of the 2007 state champion wrestling team. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Afghanistan. Greg loved to be outdoors and to spend time with his family and friends. Surviving are his father, Joseph Courtney of Allegan; his mother, Laurie (Jason Carns) Courtney of Allegan; three brothers, Shane (Krista) Courtney of Middleville, Derek (Brittany) Courtney of Otsego and Jayce (Lacey) Courtney of Allegan; one sister, Randi (Adrian) Galaviz of Allegan; his grandmother, Thelma Thompson of Allegan; two nieces and nine nephews; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy J. Thompson, Rolland "Curly" Courtney and Shirley Courtney. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral service will take place at the funeral chapel at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011. Pastor Jim Davis will officiate with burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
