of Allegan, passed away peacefully at her home, Thursday, August 5, 2010, with her family and friends at her bedside. Gloria was born August 16, 1936, in Cheshire Twp., the daughter of Arba and Zella (Wall) Sweet. She graduated from Bloomingdale High School Class of 1953. She attended Chicora Country Chapel for her entire life. On June 18, 1955 she married George Thomas Jones of Allegan. They built their home on the Jones farm in Valley Twp. where they still reside. She enjoyed her family and loved them all. As a mom it was important that the house was clean, laundry done, good meals were prepared, and everyone was sent to work or school with a good lunch and looking neat. George and Gloria loved to travel with the family, and later spent many winters in Florida. She loved to stay involved with all the kids and grand kids sporting events and other activities. She loved crocheting afghans for all the grandchildren and friends, she bowled for many years and loved to garden. She feed the hummingbirds, and spent hours watching the birds and butterflies. After graduation Gloria worked for the State Bank in Allegan, where she left in 1958 to raise her family. She then returned to work as a bank teller at First National and retired from American National in 1991. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, George Jones, 4 daughters; Judy and Tim Curry, Teresa and Bob Galloway, Georgia and Tim Meade, and Kelly Germain, all of Allegan, 8 grandchildren; Kris and Billy Meade, Lindsey and Lauren Curry, Logan and Rielly Meade, Lance Germain, and Summer Jones, 3 great grandchildren; Hannah, Bailey, and Chaz, 3 brother-in-laws, Don and Sylvia Jones, and Jim and Pat Jones, Roy Johnson of Parchment, 1 sister-in-law; Rose and Bob Waychoff of Allegan. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special family friends that have been by her bedside are Russell and Becky Deaton. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lorrie, her brother, Arba (Bud), and her sister, Deloris Fairfield. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 am.
