Hopkins, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 10, 2004 at her home after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends. Mrs. Meendering was born January 7, 1940 in Hopkins Twp., the daughter of Bruster and Virginia (Boyer) Hendrixson. She was a graduate of Hopkins High School, Class of 1958. She was the Hopkins Village Treasurer for 11 years and had previously been employed by Hopkins Elevator for 28 years. She was a member of the Hopkinsburg V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband of more than 23 years, Robert, whom she married May 23, 1981; 8 children, Catherine Brown of Burnips, Richard "Jim" (Jennie) Brown of Shelbyville, Chuck (Christine) Brown of Byron Center, Bruce (Dawn) Brown of Hopkins, Kim (Bryan) Chiaramonte of Hopkins, Amy (Garry) Barksdale of Grand Rapids, Kristie Meendering, and her fiancAC., Randy Steffes of Dorr, and Robert Meendering Jr., of Byron Center; 22 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; grandpa, Harry O. Brown of Hopkins. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, and from 1 p.m. Monday until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday.
