Obituary

Glenn Lavoy Gorby passed peacefully at home in Gobles, MI, on October 19, 2025. Glenn was born to his late parents Glen and Ruth (Lavoy) Gorby on February 8, 1930, in Allegan, MI. After high school Glenn married Charlotte (Petersen) Gorby and shared 47 years of marriage before her passing. He would then remarry Evelyn (Doublestein) Gorby and together they shared 19 years of marriage. Glenn was drafted and served honorably during the Korean War in the Army Corps of Engineers. After his service in the Army, he would work faithfully for 37 years before retiring at Parker Hanifin as the tool room supervisor. Glenn was an avid fisherman and won numerous master angler awards. He was proficient at lake trout and salmon fishing in Lake Michigan. He had a 26-foot Silverton fishing boat, docking in South Haven for many years then moving the boat up to Manistee Harbor. When he wasn't on the water, he would spend time in his tool shop at home, tinkering, repairing, and creating all kinds of things. Glenn was also a proud Detroit Tiger fan and loved spending time watching games with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, love, and faithfulness.

He is survived by his children Glenda (Mario) Mendoza, USAF MSGT Retired Craig (Sherry) Gorby, and Randy Gorby; siblings Ted (Letty) Gorby and Shirley Bracelin; grandchildren Rose, Brandon, Dana, Andrea, and Deanna; great-grandchildren Samantha, Jacob, Bella, Lilli, Brandon, Alyssa, Alayna, and Adrian.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wives; siblings Beverly (Richard) Huff, Bill Bracelin, Molly (Leroy) Austin, and Rick Gorby.

Glenn's funeral service will start at 11:00am with an hour visitation beforehand on Monday, October 27th, at Christ Community Church 3370 113th Avenue, Allegan MI 49010. Graveside service to follow with Army military honors at Hudson Corners Cemetery.
