Allegan, Michigan Our beloved Gladys, age 95, was a sweet, thoughtful, and energetic woman. As a youth, she played a major role in rearing her younger brothers and sisters when her mother passed away at an early age, a responsibility that prepared Gladys for a life of caring and uncommon dedication to family. Those close bonds continued throughout her life. She was always known for her integrity, positive outlook, sense of humor, and willingness to help others. With joy and vigor, Gladys embraced life to the fullest. She was a long-time, active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Allegan, as well as the Women's History Class and the Music Study Club. She and her friends received recognition for their annual beautification projects. She was born in East Saugatuck, Michigan on March 20, 1913, the daughter of Andrew L. and Mary (Artz) Lubbers. She passed away peacefully in Lansing the evening of May 6, 2008, surrounded by family members. Gladys attended Hamilton High School and later completed a two-year degree at Lansing Business College. After working for several years in Lansing during the 1930's for the State agency now known as the Michigan Department of Human Services, she married Joseph Eugene Mosier, DDS, in Hamilton, Michigan on December 27, 1941. The young couple built a home on the Kalamazoo River in Allegan, where Gladys lived until shortly before her death. She was predeceased by her husband in 1993, by a sister, Lorraine Lubbers, and by a brother, Melvin Lubbers. She will be lovingly remembered by a son, Joe D. Mosier (Kristi) of Bath, Michigan, and grandsons Jeffrey (Bellingham, WA), Jonathan (Los Angeles, CA), and Joshua (Greenville, SC); a daughter, Mary Lynne Breymann (Gus) of Okemos, Michigan and grandchildren Michael (San Francisco, CA) and Laura (Ann Arbor, MI). She is also survived by a dear brother and sister, Julius Lubbers and Mildred Tripp, and a sister-in-law, June Lubbers, all of Holland, Michigan, and by several nieces and nephews. Private interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 101 Walnut St., Allegan 49010, on Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m., with The Reverend William Whiting officiating, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Gladys to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
