of Allegan Passed away at her home Sunday, October 9, 2011. Age 79 years. She was born February 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Herman and Elsie (Freeman) Kruger. She graduated from Eldridge High School in North Dakota. She attended college at Valley City State and Dickinson State to receive her teaching certificate. After graduating, she taught in the Woodworth, ND area. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was married to Leonard Frank Roe on August 29, 1954; he preceded her in death on January 20, 2008. Surviving are her daughter, Melissa Dekkinga of Allegan; her son, Mathew Roe of Allegan; four grandchildren, Sarah Schulz, Emily Schulz, Haley Dekkinga and Abigail Dekkinga all of Allegan; two great grandchildren, Adam Mozery and Sophia Mozery both of Allegan; one sister, Ella Carlson of Jamestown, North Dakota; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Muhlenbeck, and Marjorie Hassebrock; and one brother, Arthur Kruger. Gladys was a world traveler and passed her love of adventure on to her children and grandchildren. She was a great athlete, and even as a teacher she was not afraid to get dirty while sliding into home plate playing softball with her students. She was devoted to her family and friends. A memorial service will take place 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Dean Beckwith will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Allegan Education Fund.
