Allegan, MI, died peacefully at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility Friday, January 13, 2006. Mrs. Edgerton was born July 23, 1912 on her parent's farm in Jamestown Twp., Ottawa Co., MI, the youngest child of Henry and Dora (VanZoeren) VandeBunte. In 1917 her family moved to Allegan. She attended Allegan High School, worked for R.B. Huff Dime Store, the Allegan General Hospital, and retired from the Gorden Funeral Residence. She was a single, working parent who raised and provided for her two children. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allegan and FLT Victor Rebecca Lodge #358. During her retirement, she served as a volunteer at the Allegan General Hospital, participated in the Women's History Club, and traveled extensively throughout the United States. She enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers, canning tomatoes, and having coffee with friends. Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Edgerton (Tom) Jacksina of Albany, NY; granddaughter, Sarah (Mark) Black and great-granddaughter, Samantha Black, of Fredericksburg, VA; son, Van (Elizabeth) Edgerton, and grandchildren, Sean, Blaire and Drew, all of Grand Rapids; 3 nieces, Elizabeth Rutgers and Jean Prestige, both of Allegan, and Mary Tiefenthal of Manistee. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, Homer VandeBunte, Fannie Gorden, Elizabeth VandeBunte, M. Jay VandeBunte, Dorothy Buiskool, and Gerold VandeBunte, and a niece, Ruth (Gorden) Merrill. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Allegan First Presbyterian Church or the Allegan Co. Medical Care Facility.
