Hopkins Twp., MI, died Monday, February 9, 2009 at his home. Mr. Truax was born May 13, 1922 in Leighton Twp., MI, the son of Clyde and Essica (Dean) Truax. He had been a dairy farmer and had been an avid bowler for more than 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Betty (Hammer); 4 children, Gary and Betty Truax of Allegan, Darlene and Fred Morley of Hopkins, Bruce and Sharon Truax of Wayland and Neil Truax and Linda Simmons, of Lochbuie, CO; son-in-law, Ken Thomas of Hopkins; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Geraldine Wright and Margaret Powers, both of Hopkins; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Thomas, Sept. 15, 2008 and 4 brothers and sisters, Wanda Shafer, Marion Truax, Dale Truax and Russell Truax. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev. James Vander Roest officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
