Allegan, MI, died Monday, January 3, 2005 at Metron of Allegan. Mr. Timmerman was born November 1, 1923 in Hamilton, MI, the son of George and Janet (Oldebeking) Timmerman. He took care of his parents until they died, sold the homestead, and moved into a trailer park in Hamilton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Allegan, and the D.A.V. He had worked at Hamilton Public Schools for many years as a custodian and bus driver, had worked in Holland for G.E., also worked at Bethany Nursing Home, and as a custodian for Mattawan Public Schools. Surviving are his wife, Erma (Schafer); 4 stepchildren, Martha Thompson of Kalamazoo, Robert (Sue) Dobbins of Allegan, Nancy (Wayne) Hall of Gobles, and Jessica (Bill) Chronkite of Allegan; several step grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Hilda Timmerman of Holland; 2 nephews, Allen Timmerman of Holland and Warren Timmerman of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Alvaro Sauza officiating. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seventh Day Adventist Evangelistic Fund.
