Gerald Lewis McCormick, 90, of Allegan, MI passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Wings Home. Born March 16, 1932 in Allegan, he was the son of the late George and Agnes (Grobl) McCormick. While serving in the United States Air Force in England, Gerald met Shelagh M. Brown in Liverpool. The two were wed on July 11, 1953 and together they shared 57 years of marriage prior to Shelagh's passing in 2010. Following their return to the United States, Gerald worked as a master electrician and had owned and operated several businesses including Diversified Electrical Systems, Material Take Off Service and American Coal & Stove Company. "Mac" was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Airman First Class in airframe maintenance. He was initially stationed at Burtonwood Air Depot (BAD) near Warrington, England, and completed his enlistment as a member of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at McGhee Tyson Air Force Base in Knoxville, Tennessee. Gerald is survived by his children, Stephen (Audrey) McCormick, Lorraine (Mark) VanHorn, Craig (Karen) McCormick, and Michael (Lisa) McCormick; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Phillip McCormick; and his siblings, Vernon McCormick, Willard McCormick, James McCormick, Bertha Warner and Helen Woolf. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Gerald will be laid to rest beside his wife in Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Township. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements. Pastor Stephen McCormick will officiate at the graveside service on Wednesday, August 10th, at 11:00 am.
