Obituary

Allegan Twp., MI, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at his home. Mr. Hitchcock was born July 12, 1927 in Allegan, the son of Leo and Helen (Walker) Hitchcock. He was a 1945 graduate of Allegan High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed listening to the Michigan Fiddler's Association, attending many of their functions. He worked for Rockwell Intl. for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Surviving are 2 children and their spouses, Daniel and Marti Hitchcock of Allegan and Pamela and Robert Forsythe of Rockford; 3 step-children and their spouses, Gary and Cindy Midling of Indiana, Diane and Chip Grandgenett of Texas, and Cheryl and Chris Delach of Allegan; 2 grandchildren, Tara and Joshua Hitchcock; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 7 brothers, Don Hitchcock and Jan Hough of Plainwell, Lewis and Laura Hitchcock and Robert Hitchcock all of Allegan, Floyd and Anne Hitchcock of Hopkins, William and Pat Hitchcock of Holland, Kenneth and Diane Hitchcock of Allegan, and Merle Hitchcock and Mary Knapp of Cooper; 2 sisters, Alice Dedrich and Nancy Gewiss, both of Allegan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, and grandson, Brady. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Millgrove Cemetery, Valley Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
