Georgena Elizabeth Morgan, 95, Allegan, Michigan passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021, at Briarwood Assisted Living and Memory Care. Born June 16, 1926, in Jamestown, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late George Miller and Eveline (Shiek) VanHorn. At the age of 11 (1937), she moved to Allegan with her family. She graduated from Allegan High School in 1944. On July 25, 1947, she married Lawrence (Larry) Morgan and they shared 52 happy years of marriage prior to his passing in 2000. Georgena, better known to family and friends as "Georgie" or "Grandma Georgie," was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an Allegan sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren compete in football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, track, and tennis. Georgie was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Michigan with her husband, family, and friends. Georgie and her husband owned a cottage on Dumont Lake for many years. Their children have fond memories of spending summers there enjoying sailing, boating, fishing, waterskiing, and entertaining friends. Georgie's interests were not limited to the outdoors. She was a quilter and made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She also liked crossword puzzles, word searches, and card games, especially bridge. In addition to all of her other interests, she found time to give back to her community. She was very proud of her involvement with the Allegan Hospital Service League; she was president from 1956 to 1958. Georgie held many jobs after her children were older. One such job was with MTA Travel Agency in Allegan. This allowed her to travel to many interesting places around the world that she had always dreamed of visiting. Besides her parents, Georgena was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Morgan; sister, Ella (Bernhard) Vollbrecht; and brother, Forrest (Woody) {Mary Ann} Miller. She is survived by her children, Sharman (George) Mohr, William (Janet) Morgan, James (Cathy) Morgan, and Richard (Devon) Morgan; and daughter-in-law, Alva Morgan; her seven loving grandchildren, Josh (Shay) Morgan, Jason Mohr, Carrie (Greg) Penny, Dana (Desman) Spurgeon, Bryan (Abby) Morgan, Courtney (Casey Niemi) Morgan and Brittany (Justin Lee) Morgan; and seven great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Georgena's name to the Allegan Sports Booster Club, Wings of Hope Hospice, or a charity of your choice. Service Details.
