of Allegan, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. George was born October 4, 1922, in Allegan, the son of the late Fred and Grace (Brown) Robinson. Mr. Robinson graduated from Allegan High School in 1942. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII, he was involved in the 2nd wave at Omaha Beach and received 2 Bronze Battle Stars. George started working at McClellands Shoe Store in Downtown Allegan, when he was 15, he continued to work at the Store for the next 55 years, with the help of his partner, Carl Fuller. He was also a member of the Allegan Lions Club for 30 years. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Shirley, 3 children; Debra Robinson of Allegan, Fred and Ronda Robinson of Hamilton, Brian and Sue Robinson of Allegan, 5 grandchildren; Lauren, Taylor, and Quinn Robinson, and Mallory McNutt and Ashley Bartz Burmeister and her husband John, 2 great grandchildren; Kylee and Makenzie, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and George Harlan. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, April 22, from 3-5 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Living Word Family Church in Allegan at 247 N. Main St., on Monday at 11 am. Pastor Dan Warren will officiate. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the Allegan Lions Club.
