Gabriel Guerrero-Zapata, 82 of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Ely Manor in Allegan, Michigan. Born March 24, 1938 in Cerritos, Mexico, he was the son of the late Rufino and Maria (Zapata) Guerrero. Gabriel grew up in a large household and enjoyed the camaraderie of his siblings. Later in life, he fell in love with Elizabeth, and though they didn't have children of their own, he was thankful to become a stepfather and step-grandfather. Gabriel was a technical designer by trade and worked for the Haworth Corporation for 45 years, before retiring in 2003. He excelled at designing and making beautiful Grandfather Clocks. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was known for his love for his four-legged babies, his puppy dogs. Gabriel was a kind and gentle person who loved sharing bits of himself with others and always tried to be there for the ones he loved. As his health declined, it was hard for him to be away from his family, but his strong faith and spirit always sustained him. The world has lost a beautiful soul. Gabriel is survived by his siblings, J. Marcos Guerrero (Margarita), Maria de Jesus Guerrero (Rodriguez), Placido Guerrero (Lucy), Virginia Guerrero, Maria Inez Guerrero and Gonzalo Guerrero (Gelsy); several stepsons and stepdaughters; as well as step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Pierce) Guerrero; his parents, Rufino and Maria; and his sister, Paula (Guerrero) Rodriguez. Gabriel will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Service Details.
