Obituary

of Allegan, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, in Kalamazoo. Mr. Peabody was born January 31, 1936, in Allegan, the son of Forest and MettaBelle (Hillman) Peabody. Fred graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in 1953, he was a crane operator for over 35 years working with several companies, but spent most of his time with Milbocker and Sons, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324, Ducks Unlimted, Trout Unlimited, Port-a-Beds Camping Club and FCRV. He loved spending time with his family, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors. He was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nancy, 2 children; Pamela and Bob Abbott of Eaton Rapids, Sari and Brad Hammon of Allegan, 7 grandchildren; Tyler Hammon, Megan and Ed Buehner, Crystal Abbott, Elizabeth and Chad Geurink, Stephen Peabody, Lindsey Stinson and Taylor Peabody, his brother, David and Stella Peabody of Plainwell, his sister, Linda and Berwin Standish of FL, 1 daughter-in-law, Sherry Peabody of Allegan, 1 sister-in-law, Elnora Peabody of Grandville, several nieces, nephews, and his sons dog, Buster. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, brother, Darl and sister, Betty. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, April 28, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am at the United Methodist Church in Allegan, Pastor Robert Stover will officiate. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Church, Dollars for Scholars, or Ducks Unlimited Allegan Chapter.
