Obituary

Plainwell, MI, formerly of Allegan. On February 14, 2006, Frederick George Gibson, 54, left his loving family to return to his heavenly home. Fred was born November 17, 1951 in Allegan, the son of William "Woody" and Lucille (Wynne) Gibson. Fred was a graduate of Allegan High School, class of 1970. He attended Hope College in Holland and received his M.B.A. from Western Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972-1976. He is survived by his adoring wife, Barb Gibson, loving children, Jay Gibson, Anna Harrington and Ben Harrington, father, William "Woody" Gibson, brothers, Greg Gibson and Woodie and Barb Gibson, and all of their families. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille, in 2004. Fred was well-loved by friends and family alike. He is most remembered for his talent as a singer, musician and song-writer. He played in numerous bands, but most will remember him playing with Darl Lane in the duo, "Brillo and Bennie", a popular band that played for 20 years locally. In recent years, he enjoyed, and was privileged to be part of, the music ministry team at Richland Bible Church. Fred was a changed man because he was a follower of Jesus Christ. The people around him were blessed because of the new man he became. He was a mail carrier for 20 years in Otsego, MI. He will be missed by his co-workers and the many adults, kids, and especially dogs on his route. Fred had many fans and could be described as animated and witty. He was very optimistic and an encourager, but also humble. He was a very loving husband and father and had a passion for life that was infectious and will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday and from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Richland Bible Church, Gull Rd., in Richland. Pastor Larry Kiser officiating. Tax deductible memorial contributions may be made to the Richland Bible Church, Gibson Family Benevolent Fund.
