of Sebring, FL, formerly of Allegan, died Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Florida Hospital, Heartland Division after a short illness. Mr. Shaffer was born July 28, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA the son of Frank and Ruth Ann (Cunningham) Shaffer. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a paratrooper with the 18th Airborne Group. He spent 30 years with Rockwell Standard Corp. and owned and operated Holiday Floral Shop in Allegan for 25 years. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Beverly L. (Merchant); a daughter, Connie A. (Paul) Brooks of Satellite Beach, FL; a son-in-law, Stephen Jacobs; 5 grandchildren, Carrie, Levi, Hillery, and Massey Brooks, and Jonathan Jacobs. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jo Jacobs. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor James H. Turner officiating.
