Obituary

Frank A. Hall age 74 of Allegan, MI died early Friday, October 17, 2003 at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek, MI. Frank was born in Pribram, (near Prague) in the Czech Republic on May 22, 1929. He married Marlin in Chicago who preceded him in death. He is survived by a stepson who lives in New York and a stepdaughter and her husband, Sharon and Tom Hunsberger of Bloomingdale, two grandchildren, Kimberly and Jason Hunsberger. Frank immigrated to Chicago, IL in 1948 and in 1950 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served with the 1st Marine Division during the Korean Conflict. He was very proud of this service to his new country. He attended the University of Illinois in Chicago and pursued studies in advertising and business. Frank worked for the Ben Franklin organization out of Chicago as a store manager and store set-up man. He moved to Allegan in 1975 where he owned a Ben Franklin store before retiring. A skilled amateur chef, Frank served many memorable meals to Allegan friends. He will be missed by his morning coffee group at Minnie Sophrona's Restaurant where he was noted for his witty and pithy comments. Frank also enjoyed sailing on Lake Michigan, listening to classical music and discussing history and politics. He had a strong affection for animals and shared his life with many pets. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 1:30 pm at the Allegan Area Community Center, 330 Trowbridge St., Allegan. Pastor Dean Beckwith officiating. Frank will be buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta with full military honors. Arrangements by Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
