Spring Lake, MI, was relieved from his cancer suffering Sunday, February 10, 2008 in Spring Lake, where he had proudly enjoyed building his new home. Mr. Goodwin was born July 6, 1940 in Allegan, the son of Ivan (Bub) and Evelyn (Ice) Goodwin, who preceded him in death. He was a 1958 graduate of Allegan High School. He was a dedicated working man and had worked for Carl Goodwin & Sons for 25 years, and piloted the company plane. He was owner of such businesses as G & H Sports Center in Allegan, Frank Goodwin Ford in Sturgis, Great Lakes Horse Transportation in Sturgis, and Squire Distributing in Sturgis. He also enjoyed horse racing as a horse owner and member of the (MHHA), Michigan Harness Horseman's Association and the (USTA) United States Trotting Association. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Susan (Saunders). He was a devoted father to three sons, Kelly F. (Geneta Wolf) Goodwin of Fowlerville, Carl V. (Jill Baird) Goodwin and Scott E. Goodwin, both of W. Olive; loving grandfather of Sean Michael, Sarah Elizabeth and Garrett Matthew Goodwin; step-grandfather to Margaret Christine and Leslie Kathleen Shull, all of Fowlerville; and brother of Lon V. Goodwin of Port Orange, FL. Friends may meet with the family from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
