The lovely and adored Florence Marie Rice, 94, of Allegan, MI, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Florence was born in Detroit, MI on May 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Dale and Ann (Smith) Ochampaugh and wife of the late Luther J. Rice. During her high school years, she left school to work for the phone company. At age 18, she went back to school and ended up graduating with her sister, Anna Mae. Florence loved to stay active and enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the Hawaiian guitar, and playing cards with her friends. As she aged, Florence found other things that brought her joy - like vacationing with her family to Kentucky, wine tasting in Traverse City, going to the casino to try her luck, and bird watching. Some of her favorite times were spent going on vacation with her daughter, Lori. Florence did her best not to let anything slow her down. She worked for Sligh Furniture for 14 years as the head decorator. Once she retired, she was able to spend more time with her grandchildren, which she absolutely loved. Her family meant the world to her and she was always grateful for their love and care. Florence is survived by her children, Vicki (Nick) Brower, Janis (Marc) Rice, Roger (Chris) Rice, Lori Rice and Bryan (Mary) Rice; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Dunning, Jaime (Travis) Spreitzer, Erika (Blake) Brower, Diana (Tom) Charney, Kyle (Chelsea) Rice, Kurtis (Katlyn) Rice; 11 great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Eliza, Nadia, Adam, Rowan, Kenslee, Koletin, Harper, Kennedy, Brantley, and Isabelle; one sister, Anna Mae Sikora; and her dog and best friend, Tessy. Along with her parents and her husband, Florence was preceded in death by her brother, Ron (Barb) Ochampaugh; two grandchildren, Nicole and Jackie; and her brother-in-law, Louis Sikora, Sr. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest with her husband in Fort Custer National Cemetery at a private family service. Memorial donations may be made in Florence's name to the Allegan Medical Care Community Generations Adult Day Care, 3265 122nd Ave, Allegan, MI 49010 and Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
