Obituary

of Allegan, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Swope was born November 13, 1921, in Allegan, the daughter of Edward and Loretta (Welling) Weber. On October 18, 1941, Evelyn Weber married Robert Swope who preceded her in 1999. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for many years. She loved to cook for her family, homemade fruit pies were her speciality. She was in tune with nature, she loved to garden and feed the birds. She never turned down a dinner invitation. Surviving are her 4 children; Edward Swope, Thomas and Wallis Swope, Joseph Swope, all of Allegan, and Sandra Kay and Christopher Puyear of Missouri, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 sisters; Ethel Fynn, Portage, Maryann and Jerry Holthof, Hastings, Rita Allerding, Hastings, Margaret and Bill Bailey, Otsego, Lois O'Connell of Allegan, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters; Florence Haas and Dorothy Opas, and 6 brothers-in-law; Jack Flynn, Jack Allerding, James O'Connell, Howard Haas, Jake Mowery and Al Opas. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 11am at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen will officiate. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorials may be made to the Church. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
