Evelyn Ruth Gorby, 87, of Allegan, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her home. Born July 29, 1933 in Allegan, she was the daughter of the late William and Ada (Busfield) Schanz and the wife of Glenn Gorby and the widow of the late Duane Doublestein. Mrs. Gorby, along with her late husband, had owned and operated Duane Kitchen and Décor where she put her knowledge and love of antiques to great use. She was an active member of Christ Community Church where she had made many dear friends over the years. Mrs. Gorby loved people and was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and watching the birds and other wildlife in her yard. Evelyn had a strong and vibrant faith in the Lord. In addition to her husband, Glenn, Mrs. Gorby is survived by her children, Jeff Doublestein, Steve Doublestein and Laura Szabo and their spouses; siblings, Joe Schanz, Eleanor Kohloff, Donna Robart, Edna Hatfield, Carl Schanz, David Schanz and Dan Schanz; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Christ Community Church on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which time a funeral service will begin. Burial will follow in Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Township.
