Obituary

Allegan, MI, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Emmons was born April 12, 1913 in Monterey Twp., MI, the daughter of Orly and Irene (Clawson) Reed. She was a member of the Merson Church. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed bingo, mushroom hunting and garage sales. She received her Master's degree from Western MI Univ. and had taught in Allegan rural schools and the Allegan Public School system for 37 years, retiring from Dawson Elementary School. Surviving are 1 son and his wife, Larry and Linda Emmons of Allegan; 3 grandchildren, Kristine and Edward Sokol, Scott and Angie Emmons and Leslie and Jason Wilson; 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Samantha; 2 sisters-in-law, Cecil Beach and Shirley Emmons, both of Allegan; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1993; an infant son, Jerry, in 1941; 2 sisters and 1 brother. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Twp. Pastor Gail Pike officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc. or Wings of Hope Hospice.
