Eugene "Ed" Overmyer Jr., 77 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at his home. Ed was born May 4, 1940 in Marion, Michigan, the son of the late Eugene and Helen (Kinnunen) Overmyer. After high school, Ed went on to earn his engineering degree and became a member of the Chi Epsilon, a high honor for engineers. He spent his career as a structural engineer working for Commonwealth Associates, Inc. In 1961, Ed married the love of his life, Donna Finkel, and spent 56 years together raising their children and enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Allegan and loved fishing, camping and spending quality time with his family. Ed is survived by his wife, Donna, their children, Kirk and Margit Overmyer, Kristen Hawkins, and Erik Overmyer; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marlene Overmyer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Overmyer. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the First Congregational Church in Allegan at 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to the Congregational Kitchen, 323 Cutler Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010. Interment will take place at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Township.
