Obituary

Benton Harbor, formerly of Hopkins, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at Gilead Elder Care in Royalton, MI. Mrs. McEwen was born September 16, 1920 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Green) Snell. She was a past member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church and had been employed at Gilmore's Clothing Store in Kalamazoo for 32 years as a salesperson and buyer, retiring in 1985. Surviving are 1 daughter and her husband, Sandra and Don Yircott of Benton Harbor; 6 stepchildren and their spouses, Mary and Dick Malone of Hopkins, Sandi and Bill Ludwick of Ohio, Larry and Marlene McEwen of Montana, Harry and Sandy McEwen of Cedar Springs, Cindy and Dave Lowman, and Kathy Brott, all of Hopkins; 2 grandchildren and their spouses, David and Sandra Yircott and Denise and Adam Newell; 1 sister, Ruth Tackett of Comstock; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Farris and Howard McEwen and brother, James Snell. Friends may meet with the family Friday at the Hopkins Community Reformed Church from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor Mark Kamper officiating. Interment Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopkins Community Reformed Church. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.
