Esther Mae Harman, 89, of Shelbyville passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at her home due to an illness. She was born in New Castle, PA on October 3, 1926, the daughter of Earl L. and Mae E. (Elkblom) Lehew. She was a graduate of Bowen High School in Chicago. Esther worked as a telephone operator, later as an inspector at True Heat and went on to be manager of The Stables in Allegan. Her hobbies consisted of traveling, arts, crafts and a love for reading. She received an award for one of her paintings and it was displayed at the Chicago Art Institute for several years. Esther is survived by her 5 children: Skip (Marge) Harman of Shelbyville, Clark (Karen) Harman of Holland, Pamela Lemmons of South Haven, Chris (Del) Temple of Shelbyville and Susan Harman of Shelbyville. Five grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Enos of Otsego, Becky (Brian) Blaine of Otsego, Bill, Dan and Scott Harman of Holland; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, two grandchildren (Earl L. and Renee M. Harman) and son-in-law (Bobby L. Lemmons). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan County for their assistance and care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan, 530 Linn Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Esther will remain in our hearts forever. She taught us all how to live, laugh, love and forgive. Remembrance services will be at a later date. Friends may meet with the family at the First Baptist Church of Otsego on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 1 - 4 PM for a Gathering of Remembrance for Esther.
