Elon J Baker of Hamilton, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior this past Sunday, November 29, 2020. Elon was born in Vermontville, MI, May 17, 1935 to his parents Alonzo Baker, and Irma (Gable) Baker. Before Elon moved to Hamilton, he had accomplished many things in his long life. He was a former farmer, 16 years as a heavy equipment operator in road construction, plowed snow during the winter months and loved collecting then boiling maple syrup for the village. Elon served faithfully in everything he did, he retired after 22 years of dedicated service with General Motors, 28 years with the Vermontville Fire Department and several years as a Lions Club member. He enjoyed very much working with the Welcome Home For The Blind program in the Lions Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who truly loved his pastimes of hunting, fishing, and camping. Elon was married to his wonderful bride Janice (Bennet) Baker, with which they cherished 68 wonderful years of marriage. They both enjoyed several winters south camping near Janice's sister. As well as taking a couple of pre-planned camping trips to Alaska and the maritime province.
Elon is survived by his wife Janice Baker, their 4 children Sheila (Richard) Harper, Jodi Arispe, Tracey (Brian) Hummell, and Jeremy (Nicole) Baker; 8 grandchildren Derek (Billie Jean) Spicer, Danielle Spicer, Ben Harper, Jenna (Kyle) Mulder, Mitchell (Samantha) Redfield, Alex Baker, Jake Baker, and Kaleb Baker; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Elon was preceded in death by his parents Alonzo Baker, and Irma (Gable) Baker; his 3 siblings Dorothy Decker, Homer Baker, and Orval Baker; and granddaughter Lauryl (Harper) Jurries.
Services will be held at Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church this Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Visitation will be from 10am - 11am with a memorial service starting at 11am by Pastor Mark Inman. Following the conclusion of the service, there will be a graveside committal at 2pm in Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville, MI. There will be no procession. Service Details. Visitation
