Elisabeth Esther "Betty" Staton, of Otsego, passed away quietly at her home early Saturday morning, May 27, 2006. Betty was born January 28, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Anton & Valerie (Slivon) Borsos. She grew up in Niles, MI, graduated from Niles High School and received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in South Bend, IN. In her nursing career she served others compassionately, with a special gift for elderly care and dedicated herself to enriching the quality of her patients lives in their final years. Betty had a talent for recognizing and appreciating the beauty in this world. These are a few of her favorite things: music, and musical plays, old romantic movies, ice skating, gardening, dolls miniatures, Christmas, and most of all her family. Betty deeply loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and soul, and instilled in them a desire to cherish the beauty in life. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Arthur Staton Jr. 5 children, Chip & Karen of Kalamazoo, Mike & Amy of Baroda, Andy & Ann of Indiana, Bill of Allegan and Beth & John Turkaly of Illinois, 10 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Robert & Shirley Borsos of Mattawan, Richard Borsos of Northville, 1 sister, Joanne Averill of St. Joseph, many nieces and nephews. Betty leaves a legacy of love and kindness for all who were blest to have known her. She was a vessel filled with unconditional love that poured unendingly into all who knew her. Although Betty will be deeply missed, her love will continue to flow through all the lives she touched. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. A memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the United Methodist Church in Allegan, 409 Trowbridge St., followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall. Pastor Joseph Spackman will officiate. Memorials may be given to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, 151 South Rose St., Kalamazoo, MI, for charitable donations to be determined at a later date.
