Obituary

Wayland, MI, formerly of Hopkins, died Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Laurels of Sandy Creek in Wayland. Mrs. Kerber was born November 7, 1916, in Burnips, MI, the daughter of Jacob & Katie (Goodman) Arndt. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hopkins. Surviving are 3 children, Ann & Fred Gaukel of Florida, Joyce & Ron Chappell of Grand Rapids and James & Barb Kerber of Dorr; 1 daughter-in-law, Jan Kerber of Hopkins; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great- grandchildren; 1 brother, Harvey & Wanda Arndt of Hopkins; 2 sisters, Esther Godfrey and Lucille Ellinger both of Wayland; 2 sisters-in-law, Violet Kerber of Allegan and Gertrude & Carl Gilbert of Hopkins; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, and her son, Louie. Friends may meet with the family Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Donald W. Seelhoff officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter, St. Paul Lutheran School.
