Obituary

Monterey Twp., Allegan, MI, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the home of her son. Mrs. Ilmberger was born April 21, 1922 in Neun Kerchen, Germany, the daughter of Ludwig and Lena (Jung) Metzger. She came to the United States when she was 5 years old, settling in Chicago. She was married to her husband John for 66 years, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2004. Surviving are 1 son and his wife, John and Joyce Ilmberger of Allegan; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and Ward Granger, Carol and Randy Sneller, and John and Leah Ilmberger; 4 great grandchildren, D.J. Bentley, Sam & Joe Granger, and Macy Ilmberger; 2 sisters-in-law, Drusilla Ilmberger of Allegan and Tosca Metzger of Chicago; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl. Friends may meet with the family from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where a Scripture Service will be held at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Jerome M. Heyman, O.S.A., Celebrant. Interment in the Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
