Obituary

of Allegan, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Crouse was born June 11, 1911, in Ottawa County, the daughter of Delbert and Jeanette (Baker) Wolverton. Eleanor graduated from Coopersville High School and Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing. In 1934 she married Joseph VanderHeide and together they owned and operated The Forty Winks Motel in Kalamazoo, for several years. She also worked for many years at Allegan General Hospital. She enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in Allegan, at Pike Lake. Eleanor resided at Life Care Center in Plainwell for over 2 years where she received excellent care and comfort. Surviving are her 2 step daughters; Donna and John Howe of Grand Junction and Patricia Barnes of Virginia, 3 step grandchildren, John and Debi Howe, Gary and Donna Howe and Deborah Williams, several step great grandchildren, neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph VanderHeide and Melvin Crouse, 2 brothers, Harry and Kenneth Wolverton. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 11 am till noon at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Graveside services will be held at Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Twp. at noon on Wednesday. Pastor Fred Perry will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allegan General Hospital.
