Augusta, MI, formerly of Allegan, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007. Eleanor was born February 2, 1917, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Henry and Frankie (Von Amon) Van Dyke. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Robert Peckham in 1937, and they lived most of there lives in Allegan. She was a mother and homemaker who took great pride in her home and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid reader and a great lover of animals. She was always willing to contribute to the welfare of animals be it thru adoption, financial contributions or just kindness. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert; 2 daughters, Barbara Himebaugh of Gobles and Betsie and Charles Scott of Augusta; 5 grandchildren, Steven & Melanie Scott, Jon & Starla Scott, Robert & Laura Scott, Jane & Don Haga and Matthew & Michelle Himebaugh; great grandchildren, Alex, Megan and Gabriel Scott, Jesse & Jacob Haga and Alayna Himebaugh; brother, Richard & Phyllis Van Dyke and sister, Clare Jane Gray. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Annette Peckham, brother, William Henry Van Dyke, sister, Martha LuAnn Shelven, son-in-law, Daniel Himebaugh, and brother-in-law, Paul Gray. She also leaves behind her beloved kitties, Mouse and Annie. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 5, at 2 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Animal's Best Friend.
