of Allegan, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her home. Eleanor was born May 16, 1935, in Trowbridge Twp., the daughter of Claude and Ethel Louise (Jones) Huff. She graduated from Allegan High School in 1952, and then went on to graduate from Allegan County Normal, she attended Western Michigan University. On August 20, 1955, she married Al Nielsen, at the United Methodist Church, where they have been members for over 60 years. Eleanor worked for the Allegan Public Schools for 30 years. She loved to teach, learn and help anyone who crossed her path. She loved her God, her family and her community, which she left better than she found. Surviving are her husband: Al; 3 children: Tim and Linda Nielsen, Chris Nielsen, Anita Dominique; 5 grandchildren: Matt and Shaye Nielsen, David and Mandy Nielsen, Steven Nielsen and his fiancAC.e, Rachel Draper, Jerrica Dominique, Allison Nielsen; her great grandson: Marcus, her brother: Donald and Beverly Huff, her brother-in-law, Phil Himmelein, 2 sisters-in-law, June and Carrie Nielsen; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister: Carolyn Himmelein; 2 brothers-in-law, Harry and Mart Nielsen; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arlene and Don Morse. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 10 am, at the United Methodist Church in Allegan, Pastor Robert Lynch will officiate. Private interment will be in Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Twp. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Dollars for Scholars, ACRDC or Wings of Hope Hospice.
