Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward McIlhargie, who left us on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Born on September 1, 1952 in Huron County, Edward was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, sibling, and friend. His vibrant personality and deep love for his family made a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Edward was the proud father of Shelly McIlhargie (Mike Bolda) and Becky (Brian) Corbett. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Tyler (Hannah), Austin, Hannah, Mya, Adelyn, Lilly, Mariah (Seth), Kennedy, and Landen; as well as his great-grandchildren: Marilyn, Rachel, and Grace.

He is also survived by his siblings: Dave McIlhargie (Angy), Susie McIlhargie, Ann McIlhargie, and Margaret McIlhargie. He was preceded in death by his siblings Gene, George, Steve, Sandy, Charlie, Mark, and Jim. Edward was the son of the late John McIlhargie and Betty McIlhargie Fisher.

Known affectionately as "Fast Eddie," Edward worked for the Operating Engineers Local 324 as a crane operator, a job he took great pride in. Outside of his work, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was playing pool (one of his favorite hobbies), cards, telling stories and jokes, golfing, or fishing. Edward's love for life and laugh was infectious, and he had a unique talent for making people smile. Not a day went by without him brightening the lives of those around him with his laughter and warmth. Whether it was offering words of wisdom, lending a hand when needed, singing, or simply sharing a laugh, Edward's presence was a gift.

Edward's humor and spirit will forever be remembered. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (St. Roch Church), where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the joy he brought to each of us. A visitation will be held preceding the funeral at 10:00.

Though he is no longer with us, Edward's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness and joy. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten as a person who lived, laughed, and loved!
