Edward G. Dockweiler, 79 of Gobles, went to be with his Lord, Friday, March 22, 2002 at Metron of Bloomingdale. Mr. Dockweiler was born August 17, 1922 in Cheshire Township, MI the son of Julius and Louise (Schmitt) Dockweiler. He had worked at James River from 1941 to 1983 except while serving his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Cooper Baptist Church and enjoyed watching baseball and football, and fishing, hunting and camping. Surviving are 6 children; Ronald & Linda Dockweiler of Gobles, Janet & Tom Uminn of Byron Center, Marcia & Bruce Shannon of Waterviliet, Christine & David Rodriquez of North Manchester, IN, Daniel & Beth Dockweiler of Kalamazoo, Teresa & Tyrone Richardson of Dorr, a foster daugther; Lauri & Carl Krohn of Kalamazoo, 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Ruth Strickler of Charlestown, IN, Louise & Hubert Cutler of Bloomingdale, many nieces and nephews, and a close family friend, Karen DeKoster of Plainwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred in 2000 and 3 brothers, Elmer, Ernest and George. Visitation will be held Tuesday 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Graveside Services will be held Tueday 2:30 pm at Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Township, with Military Honors by the Otsego VFW Post #3030. A Memorial Service will then be held at Cooper Baptist Church at 4:00 pm. Pastor Thomas Manley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Cooper Baptist Church or Metron of Bloomingdale.
