Obituary

Edmund Pigeon, 84 of Hopkins, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Metron of Allegan. Mr. Pigeon was born December 9, 1917 in Bradley, MI the son of Sampson and Eliza (MeDawis) Whitepigeon. He was one of Allegan County's top heroes of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Michigan Traditional Arts Master Basket Weaver, a member of the Salem United Methodist Indian Mission and the Hopkins VFW. Surviving are his wife, Jennie; 8 children, Mary (Pigeon) & John Vander Wood of Jenison, Andy & Deb of Grand Rapids, Steve & Kitt of Hopkins, Art & Pat of Otsego, Norm & Leslie of Hopkins, John & Olive of Dorr, Cindy Pigeon of Hopkins, Helen Hillman of Grand Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 nephew, Barry Phillips; and 1 niece, Patty Stevens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where services will be held Wednesday 1:00 pm. Pastors Joe Sprague and John Peshlakai officiating. Interment Bradley Indian Mission Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the charity of donor's choice.
