Allegan, MI, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mr. Thomas was born Dec. 16, 1912 in Monterey Twp., the son of Charles W. and Blanche B. (Keene) Thomas. He married his long-time sweetheart, Leva Frederick, on July 15, 1933. He was a member of the South Monterey United Methodist Church, had been a farmer, and retired from Mead Paper Co. in 1974. He and his wife traveled and spent winters in Florida. He especially enjoyed his extended family, garage sales, and will be remembered especially for his original designed hand-made quilts. Surviving are 4 children and their spouses, James and Phyllis Thomas, Robert and Chris Thomas, all of Allegan; Earleen and John Barber of Pentwater, and Lyle and Mona Thomas of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leva, in 1989, 1 son, Charles William in 1939, grandson, Jimmy, 3 brothers, Carl, Cecil and Lyle and daughter-in-law, Caryal. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Reva Daniel officiating. Interment Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Monterey United Methodist Church.
