Allegan, MI, died Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Diana's Place in Otsego. Pete was born June 18, 1927 in Cheshire Twp., the son of Earl and Letha (Taggert) Garton. Pete worked many jobs, he drove semi-trucks for many years, owned and operated a service station in Allegan, named City Service, he owned dump trucks and drove them for several years. He also parked cars at his home by the fair grounds for many years. Pete married Margie Connor in 1945 and they had 4 children, Gloria Wise and James Hearns of Portage, Colleen and Randy Loll of Plainwell, Doug Garton of Plainwell, and Claudette and Chris Spontelli of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren, Jamie and Vicki Loll, Lisa and Mike Leeger, Jeff and Jennifer Wise, Matt Wise, Katie and Chris Shedeck and Chris Spontelli; 6 great-grandchildren, Megan, Faith, Jacob, Ryan, Joshua and Alexis; 2 sisters, June Starr and Lee and Dick Brenner, all of Otsego; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, in 1987, sister, Thelma, and-brother- in-law, Mintz Starr. Grandpa Pete was always willing to provide quality tractor rides around the yard to his grandchildren and then to his great grandchildren. They will all miss the fun and the love of there grandpa. Friends may meet with the family Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Nate Baylor officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorials may be made to Diana's Place in Otsego.
