of Monterey Twp., was called to his Heavenly Home on Friday, December 4, 2009. Mr. Brenner was born February 4, 1915 in Monterey Twp., the son of Daniel and Halla (Berends) Brenner. Earl was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII. He was a member of the Hopkins United Methodist Church, and had farmed in the area all of his life. On July 24, 1943, Earl married Doris Westphal who survives, also surviving are his 3 children, Marla and Edward Swieter of Plainwell, Pam Brenner and Robert VanDenBrink of Hopkins, and Bruce and Shelly Brenner of Hudsonville, 8 grandchildren, Gina and Thomas VanBruggen, Sarah and Geremy Kurzmann, Timothy and Lauren Swieter, Jamie and Beth Brenner, Bradley Swieter, Kaylee Brenner VanDenBrink, Chad Brenner VanDenBrink, and Lindsey Brenner, 4 great grandchildren, Tayah, Gavin, Meaghan and Lawson, 1 brother, Ken and Alice Brenner of Hopkins, 4 sisters, Leona Lampen of Zeeland, Wilma Sebright of Kentwood, Eunice Loew of Byron Center, and June and Lyman Moored of Jenison, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Earl was preceded in death by his 5 brothers, Bud, Vern, Russell, Cleo and Orville. Friends may meet with the family on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 pm at the Hopkins United Methodist Church, Pastors Linda Burton and James Turner will officiate. Military Graveside services will be conducted by the Otsego VFW Post 3030 at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. Memorials may be made to the Hopkins United Methodist Church.
