Obituary

of Hopkins, died Thursday, September 20, 2012, at his home. Mr. Ewing was born April 6, 1921, in Ross, Michigan, the son of Frank and Arletta (Dodge) Ewing. Duane graduated from Byron Center High School in 1936. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and a lifetime member of the Wayland VFW. He worked for over 36 years as a loan officer with Production Credit in Allegan. Duane was a member of the South Monterey United Methodist Church. He was one of many concerned citizens who spent countless hours helping to get the Allegan County Technical and Educational Center from a dream to reality. Surviving are his wife, Marylou, 2 children; Byron Ewing, Colleen and Fred Banks, 11 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren, his sister, Carol Sabin. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven, and his daughter, Susan Collier. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, September 28, from 4-7 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am. Pastor Linda Burton-Collier will officiate. Interment Winchester Cemetery, Byron Center. Memorials may be made to the South Monterey United Methodist Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
