Obituary

of Allegan, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. Doug was born May 24, 1944, in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Earl and Marie (VanBuskirk) Gardiner. Doug was a great son, father, grandfather and friend. He was very supportive and encouraged his children to be passionate about whatever they did. He loved the game of golf, and passed that love onto his children. He worked at Ot-Well-Egan golf course for several years, as well as The Lynx, and Cheshire Hills. Doug and Lynn ran the restaurant at Ot-Well-Egan for over 14 years, and they also had a catering business that kept them busy. He loved the simple things in life, coffee with friends, golf, cribbage, fishing, winter's in Arizona, and taking time for friends and family. Doug retired from GM in Kalamazoo in 1996, with over 30 years of service. Later in life Doug came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and found great comfort, as he battled cancer. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife: Lynn; 3 children: Christa and Carl Braun, Joe Gardiner, Craig and Debra Gardiner; 6 grandchildren: Chase, Kinslea, Kailyn, Carly, Lindsey, Zach; 2 great grandchildren: Reagan and Leo; his mother: Marie Gardiner.
