Allegan, MI, passed away at the home of her grandson in Allegan Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 after a lingering illness. She was born Jan. 4, 1921 in Blue Island, IL, the daughter of Birt and Vi Frobish. She graduated from Blue Island High School in 1937 and at sixteen she enrolled in Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where she received a full academic scholarship. After her marriage to Norman Goodwin in August, 1941, she lived in Allegan for 35 years, where she raised her children, volunteered in the schools, the hospital and was an active member of the First Congregational Church and the November Circle. She kept a beautiful home and loved to entertain family and friends. Even after she moved to Naples, FL, in 1976, her bridge club "girls" would get together every summer in her condo at South Haven, MI. Dottie is survived by her three children, Barbara and David Langan of Illinois, Joanie Townsend of Allegan, and Norman "Duke", Jr., and Betsy Goodwin of North Carolina; 5 grandchildren, Shane Townsend and Pamela Bulkley of Massachusetts, Gia and Brian Carns of Allegan, Tracy Langan of Illinois, Chance Townsend and Lori Rhoades of Allegan and Emily Langan of Texas. Dottie was blessed with two great grandsons, Conner and Cooper Carns of Allegan and also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her. Her husband, Franklin Rodriguez, of North Carolina and her sister, Betty Frobish of California survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jane, and her son-in-law, Ed Townsend. The family would like anyone who wishes to join them in a celebration of her life on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at her grandson, Chance Townsend's home, 150 Goodwin St., Allegan, MI. Anyone who wishes may contribute to Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan, in memory of Dottie.
