Davison, MI, former long-time Wayland resident, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 in Davison. Mrs. Chappell was born August 16, 1910 in Bradley, MI, the daughter of Otto and Lulie (Lane) Wait. She learned to drive at the age of 53, after her husband passed away, and worked in Nursing Home Kitchens including Grand Valley Nursing Center and the Laurels of Sandy Creek. Surviving are 4 children, Phyllis Kupres of Wayland, Patricia and Larry McMann of Davison, Donald and Judie Chappell of Moline and Helen and Gary Richardson of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton, in 1964, grandson, Larry McMann, Jr. and brother, Irwin Wait. Friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. Monday until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Wayland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wayland Area Ambulance.
