Doris E. Hastings, 79 of Otsego, died peacefully Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Hastings was born April 27, 1924 in Allegan, MI the daughter of Clarence and Ethel (Holmquist) Hough. She had worked for Kalamazoo Public Schools as a secretary for the Hearing Impaired Program retiring in 1985. Mrs. Hastings had been a volunteer at the Allegan General Hospital and was a member of the Allegan Business and Professional Womens Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1979. Surviving are one daughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Eric Schweikert of Otsego; two grandchildren, Brooke and Marc; two brothers, Emmitt & Eileen Hough of Grandville, Clarence "Bud" Hough of Allegan; one sister, Ruth & Jack Karrer of Grand Rapids; 1 brother-in-law, Bill & Mary Hastings of Allegan; 1 sister-in-law, Betty & Perry Enos of Zephyrhills, FL; and several nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends and celebrate her life Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. A graveside service will be held Thursday 1:00 pm at Millgrove Cemetery, Valley Township. Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allegan General Hospital Foundation.
