Passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Allegan General Hospital in Allegan, Michigan. Doris was born on November 22, 1915, in Lacey, Michigan, the daughter of the late Orin A. and Agnes L. (Aspinall) Cole. Doris attended Barney Mills School near Dowling, Michigan and graduated from Hastings High School, Class of 1934. She married Norman E. Stanton in 1936, living in Barry, and later in Allegan County. Norman and Doris had two children together, Marlene A. Milhiem and Ronald L. Stanton. She married Lawrence J. Goff in 1962. They resided in Parchment and at Pine Lake. Lawrence brought four children into Doris' life; her stepchildren, Bernard J. Goff, Maralee R. Goff, Lawrence L. (Betty) Goff and Winona L. (Wyett) Playford. Doris worked for many years at the J.C. Penney store in downtown Allegan. Later in life she learned the game of golf and thoroughly enjoyed playing. Doris loved fishing and boating and she spent time on Baseline Lake, Pine Lake, Wall Lake and Lake Michigan. The past eight years, Doris lived at Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan. Doris is survived by her children: Marlene and Ronald; two stepchildren: Lawrence and Winona; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Neva I. Brandt and Nyla J. Bechtel; and a sister-in-law, Irene Cole. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale O. Cole; two stepchildren: Bernard J. Goff and Maralee R. Goff; a daughter-in-law, Linda Stanton; and a son-in-law, Dick Milhiem. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Union Cemetery, Dowling.
