Doris Marie Hopkins, 80 of Allegan, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born March 19, 1942, in Plainwell, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Wilber and Maxine (Cary) Branch and the wife of Theron "Terry" Hopkins. Doris was a true and caring person who "walked the talk." She spent her career as a registered nurse for over 25 years, helping and caring for her patients. Throughout her life she taught life skills to kids, teaching them how to sew, garden, cook, bake, make jams and jellies, and can produce. Doris was a faithful servant to her Lord. She loved her family and her church family and enjoyed singing in the choir, helping in the nursery, providing homemade bread and soups. She truly had a huge capacity to love and spread that love to so many others. Her kindness continuously broke through the darkness and her smile brighten any room. Doris has left behind a hole that can never be filled, but she will be remembered for the gentle and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend that she was to everyone. Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 58 years, Theron Hopkins; her daughter, Kimberly (Jason) McGrody; her son, Jeffrey (Susan) Hopkins; two grandsons, Matthew and Noah; and her brother, Gerald (Carolyn) Branch. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Branch and sister-in-law, Donna (Hopkins) Vick. Friends may meet with the family at the First Baptist Church of Allegan (1290 32nd Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010) on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM., at which time the funeral service will begin, Pastor Nathan Smith and Pastor Greg Carlson co-officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010. She will be laid to rest in Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego, Michigan. Gorden Funeral Residence is assisting the family with arrangements. Service Details.
