Allegan, MI, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Mrs. Hughes was born April 25, 1925 in Saranac, MI, the daughter of Ernest and Emma (Lavender) Olson. She had attended Merson Church, was a member of the Southwest Michigan Basket Makers Assoc. and had retired after 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Allegan General Hospital. Surviving are 4 children, Maggie Ritz, Carl Ritz, Pam Ritz, and Tom (Linda) Ritz, all of Allegan; 3 stepchildren, Larry (Barbara) Hughes of South Carolina, Carol (Bob) Dalton of Allegan, and Dave (Marilyn) Hughes of Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 niece, Valarie (Robert) Powell; 1 nephew, Terry (Liz) Olson. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Ritz and Harry Hughes and a brother, William "Billy" Olson. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Pastor Gail Pike officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allegan Public Library, Wings of Hope Hospice or Allegan General Hospital.
