of Grand Junction, died Monday, February 9, 2015, at the Allegan County Medical Care Community. Mr. Van Patten was born August 2, 1935, in Allegan, the son of Harvey and Ethel (Van Ness) Van Patten. Don graduated from Allegan High School, Class of 1953. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He had worked as a police officer for both the City of Allegan and the County Sherriff Dept., for several years. He also worked at Perrigo for over 15 years, as well as owning and operating the Swan Lake Campground and Store. Surviving are his wife: Carol; 9 children: Donald and Michelle Van Patten, Dale and Dawn Van Patten, Debra Markins, David and Dianne Van Patten, Gary Fuss, Terry and Dorothy Fuss, Lori and Tim Green, Lisa and Mitch Blacksten, Rob and Lisa Fuss; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; his brother: Dale and Jennie Van Patten; his sister: Joyce Lawes; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Donna; his granddaughter: Ericka; his brother: Kenneth. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 5-8 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 am. Pastor Chris Stephenson will officiate. Interment in Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Twp.
